stylist chantelle grady

Another unexpected find. Chantelle Grady is a stylist, photographer and designer. She was introduced to me by photographer Mindi Cooke. They have been collaborating together, and I can't wait to see the results. In the meantime, here is some of Chantelle's food styling and a link to her cute blog.

Which five words best describe you? Dreamy, shy, perfectionist, ambitious and self-driven.
How did you get your career start and what path have you taken since? I studied interior design and then graphic design in my early 20s as well as completing a few short photography courses along the way. After doing a little work in Brisbane I moved overseas with my boyfriend (now husband) to "see the world". We lived in Toronto, Canada, and there I picked up work for a bridal magazine. I had been buying magazines since my early teenage years so to work for a magazine was pretty exciting! After 10 months our visa was up so we headed home and since then I have worked for a few advertising agencies looking after various fashion brands. I reached a point late last year where I was questioning my life and what I need to do to feel fulfilled creatively (who hasn't!). Starting a blog was probably a bit of a catalyst to figuring things out. To be honest I'm still figuring it out but in a way I think I'm naturally heading in a direction of some sorts. I don't really know what I will be doing in 6 months but I'm excited to find out.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt along the way? Aim high and say "yes" to taking on new work that seems daunting as you will figure out how to do it along the way.
What’s your proudest career achievement? You know what, I think featuring on here is pretty awesome. For me it's a proud achievement that what I do is noticed and liked by others.
What’s been your best decision? Hmmm... probably moving to a new country where I didn't know anyone. I'm a fairly shy and quiet person and admittedly when I'm out of my comfort zone I fret a little. But going through it I learnt so much about who I am and what my strengths and weaknesses are and also what is out there in the world to experience and achieve.
Who inspires you? My husband Reid. He has encouraged me to make changes in my life and helped me stay true to myself. And all the talented people whose work gives me goosebumps.
What are you passionate about? Photography, interiors, food (especially chocolate), blogs and magazines.
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? They're neither living or dead but Dexter and Don Draper. Their mystery intrigues me.
What dream do you still want to fulfil? To one day produce my own magazine.
What are you reading? Etcetera by Sibella Court. It's filled with lots of pretty pictures making it easy to read.
