photographer nikole herriott

I don't know if it's fair to call Nikole Herriott a photographer because she could be also tagged a poet, stylist and chef in equal measures. Her Fortysixthatgrace blog posts remind me of the poetry of William Carlos Williams with their short, sweet sentences. And her photos take me to a world inbetween the day-to-day space of living and dreaming. Check out Nikole's Flickr site for more pics.

[Update: Nikole has since moved her blog here and her work here.]

What five words best describe you?
endlessly particular,
creative,
loyal and kind.
What's your proudest achievement?
successfully following my heart,
by first becoming a pastry chef
and then returning to university
and doing both well.Who inspires you?my parents,
people who do what they love,
and those I love. What are you passionate about?patisserie,
style, fashion,
the post,
the energy of a city,
the calm of the ocean,
travel and the feeling of happiness. What's the best lesson you've learnt?oh, there's a few:
the necessity of learning our collective history
the importance in attempting to appreciate people objectively
that measuring oneself against others is futile
and that often times it's just better to listen.Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet?my great grandmother
in fact I've already met her,
though this was only as a child
I'd like to meet her as an adult
to sit with her, in her back garden would be perfect
we could drink a mug of hot tea
and eat a piece of buttered sourdough toast
one that's a touch burnt around the edges
I'd love that.
What's next?I'm going to finish my degree
while simultaneously opening my own shop,
both online and in the perfect little space somewhere here
that's the plan anyway
