History of Moleskine:
The Moleskine brand identifies a number of objects that compliment the creativity and imagination of our world however it all began with a humble notebook. This notebook was originally produced by a small French bookbinder for over a century and was used by great artists and thinkers including Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemmingway and Bruce Chatwin. It was Chatwin who dubbed it 'moleskine'. In the mid-1980s, the French family-owned bookbinder was closed and the notebooks became very rare. Years later, in 1997, a small Milanese publisher began production of the 'moleskine' notebook as we know it today.
