Recently at work everyone was asked to "bring a pic of your ideal home". Easy you might think. Well, not entirely. Not when you spend all day every day looking at amazing homes. My initial reaction was to panic and think how on earth am I going to go through every homes mag I've got at home and make a decision - I am, after all, still trying to decide what fabric to upholster my sofa! But then I took a deep breath and thought about which homes are stuck in my mind - you know, the ones that don't leave you, the ones that you think about over and over again. And I have to say that it is the home of Simon Carver that we featured in Real Living earlier this year. I love his fabric choices (I have a sample of the Mokum velvet he used on his living room cushions), his use of colour (the wall in the bedroom) to create a mood, and the hits of colour (such as the orange kitchen stools). Simon is a very talented man who started his career as an artist but has moved into interior design and styling. His website is worth checking out for more inspiration.

Which five words best describe you? Energetic, focused, creative, organized & persuasive.
What was your first job and what path have you taken since then? Artist = I am now an interior designer and interior stylist.
What’s your proudest achievement? The renovation and completion of my holiday rental business in Daylesford - Hartslane.
What’s been your best decision? To start my own business . To continue to work in a creative field , which best suits my personality and interests.
Who inspires you? Christian Liaigre - French interior designer - he has a natural ability to add detail to a space like no one else.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about art and design - without the arts our society would have no soul!
What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt? Never to expect anything, never to be disappointed, always learn from the past! Be kind and honest and work hard.
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? There are so many people I would love to meet. Gandhi, Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplethorpe, Anselm Keifer, the architect who built the Guggenheim museum, Fornacetti.
What dream do you still want to fulfil? To receive an international interior project - in Europe.
