PHOTOGRAPHER MAREE HOMER

Maree Homer has a reputation as not only a great photographer, but a wonderful person to work with too. She is loved by stylists for her nurturing and supportive nature, and by magazine editors for her high-quality work. Maree is on a regular roster of photo shoots for the likes of House & Garden and Real Living magazines. While she regularly works on interior shoots, she also produces regular features on food and travel too.

Which five words best describe you? Easy going, loyal, hard working.

What's your proudest achievement? My adorable and entertaining children who are a constant source of entertainment with the funniest things they say and do.

Who inspires you? On an artistic level the work of early twentieth century photographers like Horst, Henri-Cartier Bresson, & Manuel Alvarez Bravo - their strong distinguished images never cease to amaze and on a personal level the average person who has defied the odds and made the impossible possible.

What are you passionate about? Naturally, my family and my work, and my adorable little dog Chip! But I am totally obsessed with books & music. They help motivate me or inspire me; allow me to escape or let my imagination run wild; they help me to relax, they can make me cry or put a smile on my face - I couldn’t live without them.

What's the best lesson you've learnt? To not take yourself or life in general too seriously and to always keep laughing!!

Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? Tina Modotti. She was an avant-garde photographer who lived in the 1930s and apart from her beautiful imagery she led such a glamorous and fascinating life. There was speculation surrounding her death and of course I would love to know the truth about it.

What's next? Mmm… it’s after 5pm, so perhaps a nice chilled vino!

What are you reading? Full Bloom The Art & Life of Georgia O’Keeffe.
